We are looking for several experienced IBM Z automation contractors with strong hands-on expertise in IBM Z System Automation (SA z/OS) and IBM Z NetView. The ideal contractors will be able to design, implement, and optimise automation policies, message handling, and operational workflows across complex z/OS environments. Knowledge of OPS/MVS (Broadcom) is highly desirable, particularly for organisations transitioning between automation frameworks or operating hybrid estates. This role is suited to a senior engineer who can hit the ground running, work independently, and provide expert-level guidance to internal teams.
Job Responsibility:
Develop, maintain, and optimise SA z/OS automation policies, resource definitions, and automation routines
Configure and enhance NetView automation tables, message processing, command lists, REXX execs, and network/system monitoring
Analyse and streamline operator workflows, reducing manual intervention and improving system resilience
Support and troubleshoot automation issues across sysplex environments, including cross-system dependencies
Integrate SA/NetView automation with subsystems such as CICS, DB2, IMS, MQ, JES2, and middleware components
Provide SME-level input into automation strategy, standards, and best practices
Assist with migration or coexistence scenarios involving OPS/MVS, including rule translation, event handling, and operational alignment
Produce clear technical documentation, runbooks, and knowledge transfer materials for internal teams
Collaborate with operations, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure consistent automation coverage
Requirements:
Deep hands-on experience with IBM Z System Automation (SA z/OS)
Strong working knowledge of IBM Z NetView, including Automation tables
REXX automation
Message handling
Command lists
Network/system monitoring
Solid understanding of z/OS operations, JES2, WLM, console operations, and subsystem lifecycle management
Experience supporting large, complex, multi-LPAR or sysplex environments
Ability to analyse automation gaps and design robust, policy-driven solutions
Strong debugging and problem-resolution skills in mainframe automation contexts
