Committed youth workers, who are responsible for developing, assisting and supporting young people in a strength based, therapeutic model of care to provide growth and safety until they become adults. The program has a strong focus on facilitating and supporting the young people, their families and key stakeholders, to recover from trauma with a multi-disciplinary team-based approach through individualized, person-centred care.
Job Responsibility:
Provide individualised high-quality supports which promote clients’ health along with their physical, emotional, social and behavioural needs and goals
to facilitate the participation and inclusion of young people in the community
to act as a mentor to young people and engage positive change and discourage challenging behaviours
support clients in their day to day lives according to their individual care plans
with 24 hours care we need people who can work all shifts including active nights and holidays
year-round rosters require availability at all times of the year
an understanding of reflective practice in the trauma-based environment
Requirements:
Certificate IV/Diploma in Youth Work or Community Services
previous experience working with children and young people with trauma-based disabilities
Australian Citizens/Permanent Residents willing to work flexible hours including shiftwork, weekends and sleepovers
demonstrated experience working effectively within a team
experience and understanding of WH&S issues in the workplace
outstanding interpersonal skills
flexible and patient with the ability to relate well within a team
written and verbal communication skills within a Mandatory Reporting framework
intermediate computer skills
current unrestricted NSW Driver’s Licence (must have as a minimum P2 licence to drive a Wesley Mission vehicle)
current First Aid Certificate
current Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Check and a satisfactory Criminal History Record Check (please note this role will require employees to be registered under the Residential Care Workers Register)
