Job Description

Summer Youth Service Workers will assist in the enrichment of youth and family services. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge and gain valuable work experience within a well-established support team.

Job Responsibility

  • Provides life skills training to youth with disabilities between the ages of 17 to 19
  • Teach life skills such as: achieving independence, obtaining identification, touring colleges, banking, applying for Persons with Disabilities Benefits, using transit and exploring job opportunities
  • Co-facilitate in Family Support groups and develop resource guides for families
  • Act as an advocate for client groups in the community, assist in community development and provide public education on topics related to disability issues

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education or training in a related field (Social Services, Human Services, or Education)
  • Must be between ages of 18-30 at intake time, legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Criminal Record Clearance
  • Medical Clearance
  • Valid First Aid/CPR
  • Valid class 5 Driver’s licence and use of a car is an asset
  • Demonstrated competency in English
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365
  • Must be Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident, or hold Refugee Status
