Many young people today feel forgotten by the traditional education system. As a Youth Engagement Mentor, you aren't just a tutor; you are a lifeline. You will work one-on-one with students who are persistently absent or excluded from school, including those with SEND, SEMH challenges, or complex barriers to learning. Your mission is to build a 're-engagement bridge,' guiding students from total isolation back into a stable learning environment, college, or vocational pathway.

provide a calm, trauma-informed presence during moments of crisis
deliver low-pressure, interest-based activities to reignite the habit of learning
physically accompany students to interviews or placements to reduce anxiety
teach vital life skills like budgeting and navigating public transport
act as the voice of the child in multi-agency meetings with social care and camhs
support parents in creating a home environment that encourages attendance and growth
