Requirements

Experience supporting families and young people affected by domestic abuse
Knowledge of abuse within teenage relationships
Experience working with young people aged 12–17 using a range of direct work tools
Awareness of neurodiversity and its impact on behaviour and engagement
Ability to identify signs of abuse and understand its emotional and developmental impact
Strong safeguarding knowledge and ability to follow procedures effectively
Experience delivering support in both group and individual settings
Strong communication skills and adaptability to engage with diverse audiences
A detailed understanding of risk assessment and safety planning principles
The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post

Job Responsibility

Deliver trauma-informed, therapeutic interventions through both 1-2-1 and group sessions
Help young people understand the impact of abuse, develop healthier coping strategies, safety plans and build understanding of healthy relationships
Provide holistic safety planning, complete risk assessments, advocate and represent young person’s voices in multi-agency meetings
Work closely with the CHIDVA and DA & Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) worker to identify local trends and deliver targeted training to professionals
Raise awareness of the signs of abuse in young people’s relationships and improve safeguarding responses
Work with young causing harm and support them to adopt healthy behaviours
Work closely with children’s services, education settings, and youth service and a wide range of agencies to champion the needs of young people affected by domestic abuse

Follow financial and administrative procedures as directed by the Children and Young Person’s Coordinator
Follow first aid procedures and keep records of all accidents, incidents and treatment given
Provide personal care when needed respecting the dignity and privacy of the individual at all times
Monitor and evaluate children and young peoples’ progress through observation and record keeping
Promote Midland Mencap to families and other agencies
