Year 6 Teaching Assistant – Full-time, long-term temporary and ongoing from as soon as possible. The Year 6 Teaching Assistant will work closely with teaching staff to support learning, independence, and preparation for transition to secondary education. Job Responsibility:
Provide classroom support for Year 6 pupils throughout the school day
Support learning on a one-to-one or small group basis as directed by the class teacher
Assist pupils with core subjects, including literacy and numeracy
Support pupils' confidence, independence, and readiness for secondary transition
Help manage classroom behaviour using consistent routines and positive strategies
Prepare and organise learning resources and classroom materials
Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
Support pupils' social, emotional, and academic development
Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities at all times
Requirements:
Experience working as a Teaching Assistant or supporting pupils in upper Key Stage 2
Understanding of Year 6 curriculum demands and transition expectations
Patient, calm, and supportive approach to working with older primary pupils
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to build positive and respectful relationships with pupils
Willingness to commit to a full-time, long-term temporary and ongoing role
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
