Job Description

We are delighted to present an exciting opportunity for a passionate and dedicated Year 5 Class Teacher to join a dynamic primary academy in the Northampton area on a, full-time basis. Shortlisting is currently underway for a May 2026 start. This welcoming and friendly school community is made up of enthusiastic, energetic pupils and a supportive staff team. The academy is committed to educating the whole child — ensuring pupils not only achieve their full academic potential but also develop as creative and critical thinkers with the confidence to positively challenge the world around them and embrace lifelong learning.

Job Responsibility

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons in line with the National Curriculum (including English, Maths, Science, History, and other foundation subjects)
  • Assess pupil progress regularly through both formal and informal methods (tests, observations, marking, etc.)
  • Support pupils’ emotional, social, and academic development
  • Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes confidence, respect, and high expectations
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress, attainment, and behaviour

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)
  • Proven classroom-based teaching experience
  • Two recent education or school-based references
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
