We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Primary Teaching Assistant to join our supportive primary school community in Cornwall. This role is integral to our mission of fostering a nurturing environment where every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. The successful candidate will provide personalised support to a Year 3 pupil on a morning 1:1 basis until 12:30 each day, contributing to our ethos of inclusive and child-centred education. Job Responsibility
Provide personalised, one-to-one support to a Year 3 student during morning sessions until 12:30, ensuring their individual needs and learning goals are met in line with the school's inclusive approach
Assist the classroom teacher with day-to-day activities, including setting up resources, supporting classroom routines, and maintaining an organised and stimulating learning environment
Support the student’s social and emotional well-being by fostering positive interactions and encouraging confidence and independence
Implement tailored strategies to facilitate the student’s engagement with the curriculum and ensure their participation in all classroom activities
Monitor and record the student’s progress, providing feedback to the class teacher to inform future planning and support
Promote the school’s values of respect, kindness, and perseverance in all interactions with pupils and staff
Support the overall safety and well-being of pupils, adhering to school policies and safeguarding procedures at all times
Requirements
Experience working with children with SEN, particularly within EYFS or KS1 (not essential)
A patient, caring, and resilient approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
Relevant qualifications (desirable but not essential)
Nice to have
Training or experience in SEMH, ASD, or trauma-informed practice
Relevant qualifications (Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or similar)
Experience within an Alternative Provision setting
