Job Description:

Are you a hardworking professional with a knack for organization and a talent for operating heavy machinery? We are currently seeking a dedicated Yard Worker / Forklift Operator to join a premier team in the Building Materials industry in Surrey, BC. As a Yard Worker / Forklift Operator, you will be the backbone of the yard operations, ensuring that inventory is moved safely and efficiently to support our client's busy distribution schedule. This role is a Temp-to-Perm (TTP) opportunity, perfect for someone looking to secure a long-term career path within Manufacturing & Logistics.

Job Responsibility:

  • Operate a Sit-Down Counterbalance Forklift safely within a busy yard environment
  • Perform heavy manual labour, including the repetitive lifting and carrying of building materials (shingles) weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and safely change propane tanks as required for forklift operation
  • Organize and stack inventory according to safety specifications and site layouts
  • Assist with loading and unloading delivery trucks with precision and care
  • Maintain a clean and organized yard to prevent hazards and ensure efficient traffic flow
  • Participate in mandatory safety e-learnings and on-site training sessions
  • Collaborate with the warehouse team to ensure accurate inventory tracking
  • Follow all provincial and company-specific health and safety regulations at all times

Requirements:

  • Valid Forklift Operator Certification (SDCB)
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience operating a forklift
  • Previous experience in a yard or outdoor warehouse environment is highly preferred
  • Ability to pass initial safety assessments and complete required e-learning modules
  • Reliable transportation to the Surrey, BC location for early morning shifts
  • Commitment to physical labour and heavy lifting throughout the shift
