Join our team at MS Roofing, a respected independent builder’s merchant serving the Southeast since 2003. With a commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service, we are part of the Independent Builders Merchant Group (IBMG), the largest independent merchant group in the South of England. We’re expanding our team at our Brighton Branch and are looking for a dependable Yard Operative/Van Driver to help us continue delivering excellent service to our trade and retail customers.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assist customers in locating and loading building materials
  • Safely load/unload goods from supplier vehicles and customer collections using forklifts (if licensed)
  • Maintain yard organisation and cleanliness, ensuring materials are stored safely and correctly
  • Carry out regular stock checks and report shortages or damages
  • Follow all health & safety procedures, including PPE requirements
  • Deliver building materials to customers using a company van (3.5t or similar), ensuring safe and legal driving at all times
  • Plan efficient delivery routes in line with schedules provided
  • Ensure all goods are correctly loaded, secured, and signed for
  • Provide excellent customer service upon delivery, resolving minor queries where possible

Requirements:

  • Full UK driving licence
  • Experience in a similar role within a builders’ merchant, construction, or trade environment (preferred but not essential)
  • Good knowledge of building materials and products (desirable)
  • Forklift licence (counterbalance) desirable but training may be provided
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and perform manual handling duties
