Job Description:

Chandlers Roofing Supplies is a respected independent roofing and builders’ merchant, proudly serving the South East since 2010. We’re committed to providing quality products and excellent customer service to our trade and retail customers. As part of the Independent Builders Merchant Group (IBMG) — the largest independent merchant group in the South of England — we offer the stability of a large group with the feel of a local business. We’re now expanding our team at our Harrow branch and are looking for a reliable Yard Operative / Van Driver to support yard operations and customer deliveries.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assisting customers to locate and load materials
  • Loading and unloading supplier and customer vehicles
  • Operating a forklift (if licensed)
  • Keeping the yard clean, organised, and safe
  • Carrying out stock checks and reporting damages or shortages
  • Following all Health & Safety and PPE requirements
  • Delivering building materials to customers using a company van (up to 3.5t)
  • Planning efficient delivery routes in line with schedules
  • Ensuring loads are secured and paperwork is completed accurately
  • Providing friendly, professional customer service on every delivery

Requirements:

  • Full UK driving licence
  • Experience in a builders’ merchant, trade, or construction environment (preferred but not essential)
  • Good knowledge of building materials (desirable)
  • Forklift (counterbalance) licence desirable – training available
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling and outdoor work
  • Reliable, flexible, and a strong team player
  • Must Have Driving and forklift licence
