Job Description

Joining the Travis Perkins family as a Yard Manager, you will ensure the safe and efficient running of our yard. You will also be responsible for leading and inspiring a team of Yard Assistants who are on the front line dealing with our customers that come into our yard. As part of the branch team you will play a vital role in our continued success, providing a first class service.

Job Responsibility

  • Ensure the safe and efficient running of the yard
  • Lead and inspire a team of Yard Assistants
  • Deal with customers that come into the yard

  • Process customer orders
  • Load and unload customer and company vehicles
  • Unload building products from supplier deliveries

  • Oversee all yard operations, ensuring vehicles are unloaded, stored, prepared, and processed safely and efficiently
  • Coordinate vehicle movements for further processing across multiple departments
  • Organise and manage collections of commodities and waste to ensure they are completed on schedule
  • Lead, manage, and support a team of 15+ staff, including daily task allocation and supervision
  • Monitor attendance, timekeeping, performance, manage holidays and sickness absence
  • Ensure all staff follow company processes and use systems accurately
  • Drive team performance to achieve daily and weekly targets and KPIs
  • Identify and implement improvements to increase operational efficiency
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels, including recruitment, induction, and ongoing development
