This position, part of our manufacturing & logistics specialization, offers a unique opportunity to join a tight-knit team with a relentless focus on safety and precision. As a Counterbalance Forklift Operator, you will be a vital link in our client’s supply chain. Your primary mission within the manufacturing & logistics sector will involve handling large-scale metal products, specifically massive steel rolls used to manufacture residential structural beams. You will spend approximately 90% of your shift operating a sit-down propane counterbalance forklift, primarily in the outdoor yard. While the forklifts are enclosed for your comfort, the nature of manufacturing & logistics work requires resilience and the ability to work effectively outdoors in various weather conditions.
Job Responsibility:
Safely operate a sit-down propane counterbalance forklift in the outdoor yard
Load and unload flatbed trucks with heavy metal products and steel rolls
Utilize RF scanners and tablets for data entry and order tracking (SAP/Manhattan)
Move materials and finished goods to appropriate storage zones within the yard
Conduct daily equipment inspections and report any mechanical concerns immediately
Collaborate closely with the shipping team to meet strict delivery deadlines
Maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment at all times
Perform propane tank changes for the forklift following established safety procedures
Requirements:
Valid counterbalance forklift certification (in-house or external)
Must possess your own CSA-approved safety boots
Availability to work afternoon shifts following the initial training period
Previous experience in the manufacturing & logistics sector or industrial warehousing
Ability to commute to the site on Roper Rd NW (public transit is limited in this area)
Commitment to a 3-month temporary assignment with the potential for extension
