Yard Driver

Job Description

The Yard Driver is primarily responsible for maintaining a neat and orderly lot oriented toward maximizing efficiency in servicing the company needs. The Yard Driver will also be responsible for completing local deliveries as needed.

Job Responsibility

  • Operate Yard Truck to maneuver and park large, oversized loads
  • Responsible for accounting for records involving container numbers
  • Must function and interact daily with distribution center personnel and comply with safety requirements
  • Communicate using cellular telephone or 2-way radio with dispatch, operations, and personnel
  • Move trailers in and out of bays, inspect new deliveries and provide support where needed
  • Maintain a safe work environment and practice safe work habits per company policies
  • Wear and proper use of personal protective equipment
  • Maintain compliance with ELD, vehicle condition reports, and all other aspects of DOT compliance
  • Keep updated on current DOT rules and regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Valid Class A CDL license
  • A clean driving record with no major accidents and no alcohol or drug convictions
  • At least 1 year all-weather driving experience is required
  • Minimum 1 year yard jockey experience is required
  • Ability to communicate proactively and effectively including comprehending and communicating detailed instructions, reading and writing, and having knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures as required by the position
  • Must be at least 18 years old to be considered for employment with Bob's
