Job Description:

We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Primary Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Peterlee in their Y2 class. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about education and keen to make a positive impact in the classroom. The position is full-time and initially offered on a temporary basis for the 2025/26 academic year, with the strong potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

Job Responsibility:

  • Support the class teacher in delivering high-quality lessons
  • Work one-to-one or in small groups with pupils to support learning
  • Assist with classroom preparation and resource management
  • Encourage and support children’s academic and personal development
  • Promote positive behaviour and a safe, inclusive learning environment

Requirements:

  • Experience working in a primary school setting (preferred but not essential)
  • A caring and patient approach with a genuine passion for working with children
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable)
