Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for a X- Plant Rework Technician to join our X-Plant department based in Mobile, AL. FAL X-Plant Technicians are tasked with actively participating in preparation for and operational execution of Outstanding Work- from minor rework through to complex rework & repair activities within their skills and Qualification profile (Electrical & Mechanical, or, Structures & Mechanical). This work is carried out throughout the FAL and Flightline phases. Responsible for non-standard work in Mobile FAL which includes but is not limited to Outstanding Work from Europe Plant Partners, Non-Conformities and snag sheets raised during standard FAL activities, Customer findings recorded in Quality Log Book, and Technical Log Book write ups during Flight Line and Delivery Phases. High level of skill and flexibility required to ensure FAL and Flight Line milestones are achieved while operating at the highest level of Safety, Quality, Cost, and schedule adherence. You will be trained and qualified to work across multiple competencies in order to provide optimum support to Mobile FAL and Flight Line Operations. FAL XPlant Technicians coach, train and mentor FAL & X-Plant team members to further enhance their Airbus production system knowledge, skills and development. Acts as a trainer for new processes, initiatives and is a bastion of Safety and Quality within the team. A high degree of work schedule flexibility and autonomy is needed in this position. This includes shifts and weekend working. After a learning and training period, you will become a Delegated Inspector and hold privileges in multiple Airbus Plant and supplier systems.
Job Responsibility:
Perform non-standard work that includes but is not limited to electrical system rework, wire changes, harness changes, electrical bonding, crimping, pinning, splicing, systems exchanges, component/equipment changes, painting, sealing, and troubleshooting
Perform Self Inspections in line with Qualification profile and Work Order requirements
Perform Delegated Inspections in line with Qualification profile, inspection planning and Work Order requirements
Work in an autonomous and self-directed team to secure milestones for Mobile FAL and Flight Line
Work in compliance with production orders, design documents, concessions, and inspection procedures
Work in conjunction with engineering support to define rework or repair solutions and to carefully review all work orders, drawings, instructions, and procedures
Occasionally assist FAL Operations with standard activities performed out of station
Coordinate with various FAL Functions to safely and securely access aircraft for non-standard work
Able to isolate limited systems in order to safely perform non-standard work
Flexibility to perform works in non-standard areas such as at height, confined space, and wet-tank entry while following all safety protocols and OSHA Regulations
Document tasks in accordance with Airbus procedures and specifications
Use a variety of standard and specialized hand tools, power equipment, measuring devices, and test equipment in completing work assignments, and jigs/fixtures with associated license
Follow all OSHA, Safety, and Environmental Regulations
Prepare for complex rework/repairs as a key part of the Working Party MFT
Embody complex rework/repair solutions in accordance with defined engineering dossier and planning
Identify risks and help mitigate through Working Party planning and review routines
Contribute to planning adaptation within the MFT
Support and guide station setup needs to ensure safe working conditions are implemented and maintained throughout complex rework/repair Working Party for people & Aircraft
Actively contribute and lead continuous improvement and problem solving actions (PPS) linked to the complex rework/repair
Performs OJT, coaching and actively participates in the development of the X-Plant and FAL teams
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
High School Diploma/ GED
Completed vocational training (Mechanics/System/Avionics/Electrical)
2+ years of experience in related field
2 years minimum experience in Aircraft systems and electrical rework or equivalent
Required Licensure/Certifications
Delegated Inspector (After Training and Qualification Period)
Minimum of 2, X-Plant or FAL Station PDR's fully complete, current and hold corresponding WA's/QA's, (Structures and Mechanical or Electrical & Mechanical cross trained)
Knowledge of Hand, Power Tools, Cutting Tools, etc. related to Airbus Manufacturing
Willingness to learn and cross-skill within multiple functions and competencies
Ability to work across different teams to coordinate and complete activities
Demonstrated ability to problem solve
Knowledge of station safety, quality, FOD, and OSHA Regulations
High degree of flexibility, including shift
Excellent communication skills
Work preparation and M.E processes
G Suite
Skilled in SAP and IT tools
Nice to have:
Completed vocational training (Aircraft electrics, avionics and Systems)
5+ years hands-on experience in the Aviation industry
