Job Description:

Lead Region-Critical Asset Renewal Programmes | Own Delivery | Strengthen the Network | Shape the Future of Energy. Aurora Energy powers communities across Te Waipounamu, from Ōtepoti Dunedin to Central Otago and Tāhuna Queenstown. We deliver safe, reliable electricity to more than 200,000 people through one of Aotearoa’s largest distribution networks. We’re seeking a Works Delivery Team Lead – Fleet Assets to own the end-to-end delivery of region-critical asset renewal programmes. This is not a project-by-project role. You’ll lead multi-year, volumetric renewal programmes, setting direction for planning, sequencing and execution, with accountability for safety, quality, cost and schedule in line with the asset management plan. Operating at the centre of delivery, you’ll coordinate Asset Management, Network Planning, Finance and field service contractors, as you bring structure and momentum to critical renewal work. You’ll also lead and develop a team of Project Managers, driving clarity, accountability and performance.

Job Responsibility:

  • End-to-end asset renewal programme delivery
  • Coordinated delivery planning, milestone tracking, risk management and “no surprises” forecasting
  • Work sequencing to minimise network disruption
  • Disciplined change control and issue resolution
  • Contractor performance across safety, quality and technical standards, including support with tendering and onboarding
  • Budget management and accurate forecasting within delegated authority
  • Visible health, safety and environmental leadership
  • Regulatory and technical compliance
  • Team leadership, coaching and capability development

Requirements:

  • 5+ years’ experience delivering infrastructure or utility asset renewal programmes
  • Leadership experience in operational, regulated, or safety-critical environments
  • Field experience (Line Mechanic, Cable Jointer, etc.) is a strong advantage
  • Significant project management experience
  • Skilled in asset lifecycle management, contractor performance, commercial delivery, and working on live networks
What we offer:
  • Competitive salary and strong benefits, including boosted Kiwisaver after one year
  • A culture that values safety, teamwork and innovation
  • Lifestyle choice — Dunedin’s rugged coastline and historic charm, or family-friendly Central Otago with excellent schools and outdoor living
