Job Description:

At 1KOMMA5°, we pursue a clear vision: Living on wind and sunlight forever for free. To make this a reality, we are building the energy system of the future with Heartbeat AI. Want to be part of it? We bring together regional craftsmanship and scalable software: We don't think of solar, batteries, heat pumps, and e-mobility as isolated components, but control them as an intelligent, integrated overall system in our virtual power plant. Directly connected to the electricity market – in real time, fully automated. This way, energy is used when it is available from renewables and particularly cost-effective. By 2030, our goal is to transition 1.5 million households to renewable energies. Over 3,000 people are working towards this every day, at more than 80 locations worldwide, from Finland to Australia. Want to take responsibility and build solutions that truly matter? Apply now and help us shape the energy world of tomorrow.

Job Responsibility:

  • Support the development team as a Full-stack Engineer, contributing to real-world features within a collaborative, agile environment
  • Assist in building and maintaining core business systems, gaining hands-on experience with both scalable backend services and responsive frontends
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to break down technical tasks and implement solutions for defined business requirements
  • Apply and learn best practices in clean architecture, component reusability, and modern UI patterns using frameworks like React or Next.js
  • Contribute to code quality by writing unit tests, participating in code reviews, and learning the ropes of CI/CD and observability pipelines
  • Help improve the developer experience by assisting with documentation, automating small-scale workflows, and identifying areas to reduce technical debt
  • Develop professional autonomy by managing your tasks effectively in an asynchronous environment, providing regular updates on your progress
  • Gain insight into the product lifecycle by participating in technical feasibility discussions and aligning your development tasks with team milestones

Requirements:

  • Enrolled at a university and can contribute 20 hours per week
  • Studying a relevant degree program (e.g. Business Administration, Engineering, Computer Science)
  • Foundational experience writing clean and testable code in TypeScript, with a basic understanding of modern frontend frameworks and backend logic
  • A solid grasp of web fundamentals, including API interaction (RESTful or GraphQL) and how data is structured and modeled
  • The motivation to learn how to own features from start to finish
  • A product-oriented mindset and an interest in how technical decisions impact the final user experience and business value
  • High curiosity and initiative to explore new tools, stay up to date with engineering trends, and suggest improvements to team workflows
  • Excellent written and spoken English and a valid residency/work permit for Germany
What we offer:
  • You are part of an international, dynamic, and highly motivated team of people who have proven to make things happen
  • With your work, you accelerate the 'energy transition' and hence have a direct impact on our climate
  • Work with and learn from other super-smart colleagues
  • You will enjoy direct contact with core decision-makers
  • You will enjoy the best chances of entering full-time in one of Europe’s most thriving scaleups
  • You work remotely (Germany-wide), with offices in Hamburg, Berlin or Munich
  • Create a healthy balance alongside your work and enjoy all the benefits of the EGYM Wellpass
  • Benefits and discounts are yours with Futurebens
