Job Description

Blackbaud is seeking an experienced Azure DevOps & Atlassian Jira Administrator with deep, practical expertise in administering, configuring, and governing enterprise-grade work management platforms. This role plays a critical part in maturing our engineering work management ecosystem, ensuring reliable, scalable, and secure usage of both Azure DevOps (ADO) and Jira across diverse technical and business teams. This role will help shape standards, drive operational excellence, and ensure data hygiene and governance practices that support engineering, product, and project delivery at scale. You’ll partner closely with cross-functional groups to guide tooling strategy, optimize processes, and improve the day-to-day user experience across ADO and Jira.

Job Responsibility

  • Own the administration, configuration, and lifecycle management of Azure DevOps and Atlassian Jira, including projects, boards, workflows, permissions, integrations, and automations
  • Maintain alignment with established Azure DevOps governance practices and data hygiene expectations, including support for work item hierarchy, backlog structures, and work tracking standards
  • Define and enforce usage standards, fields, templates, and workflows to ensure consistency and reliable reporting across teams
  • Partner with product, engineering, and delivery leaders to optimize usage of work management tools in support of Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, and hybrid methodologies
  • Provide expert guidance on backlog management, user story structures, acceptance criteria alignment, and traceability from ideas to deployments
  • Ensure integrations between ADO, Jira, Git repos, pipelines, and adjacent systems remain secure, scalable, and well-documented
  • Build and deliver training, onboarding materials, and documentation to improve team adoption and maturity of work management practices
  • Support new groups onboarding into ADO and Jira, leveraging best practices and governance guidance established by Azure DevOps Governance teams
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting assistance, coaching, and advisory support to users at all levels
  • Develop dashboards, queries, filters, workflows, and automations to improve transparency and reduce manual work
  • Partner with engineering leadership to ensure high-quality reporting across backlog health, forecasting, velocity, and delivery insights
  • Evaluate tool usage patterns and propose enhancements or standardization opportunities to improve overall delivery efficiency

Requirements

  • 2+ years administering Azure DevOps and Atlassian Jira in complex enterprise environments
  • Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and scaled Agile frameworks
  • Experience designing workflows, permission models, project structures, and field configurations
  • Proficiency with ADO Boards, Repos, Pipelines, and integrations with Git-based source control
  • Ability to partner with engineering teams to ensure accurate work item hygiene, traceability, and progress reporting
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across permissions, workflows, automation, and integrations
  • Experience creating documentation, onboarding content, and user training programs
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and engage with users at all organizational levels
  • Able to work flexible hours as required by business priorities
  • Ability to deliver work which meets all minimum standards of quality, security, and operability
