The WordPress Developer is responsible for the development, maintenance, and optimization of WordPress websites with a focus on delivering high-performance, SEO-optimized web sites that drive user engagement. Key responsibilities include building and customizing WordPress themes and plugins, ensuring compliance with Core Web Vitals and SEO best practices, and collaborating with the SEO, Product and QA teams. As a key technical contributor, the role is integral to the delivery of robust, high-quality solutions that meet user needs and drive the success of digital marketing efforts.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and maintain WordPress sites, focusing on engagement, performance and scalability
Implement custom themes and plugins as needed, focusing on clean code and best practices
Assist in CMS conversion and migration projects
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, SEO, product, QA) to create high-quality websites
Optimize website performance, ensuring mobile responsiveness, Core Web Vitals compliance and SEO best practices
Troubleshoot issues and perform regular site maintenance tasks
Participate in code reviews and encourage continuous improvement
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a technical field (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of professional experience in WordPress development
Advanced knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL
Experience developing custom blocks and extending functionality for the WordPress block editor (Gutenberg), including familiarity with React
Experience with custom theme and plugin development
Experience implementing designs from tools such as Adobe XD, Figma, or Sketch
Familiarity with WordPress coding standards and best practices
Experience with RESTful APIs, JSON, and integrating third-party services
Strong understanding of website optimization, SEO best practices, and performance tuning
Proficiency in version control systems, particularly Git
Solid knowledge of web security, cross-browser compatibility, and responsive design
Experience working using Agile methodologies
Nice to have:
Experience with CI/CD processes, familiarity with Jenkins
Previous industry experience working in technology at an affiliate / iGaming company
