This role provides strategic and pastoral leadership in two key areas: 1. Women’s Ministry – leading and discipling women within the church. 2. Women’s Mission (Evangelism) – reaching and engaging women in the local community with the hope of Jesus and opportunities for growth and transformation. Additionally, this role includes involvement in assisting members at BLC identify gifts and areas of service and so help shape how BLC serves both one another and our wider community through volunteering and service teams.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and develop the overall Women’s Mission area
Build missional pathways connecting women from the Second Chance Op-Shop and the wider community into church life
Equip and inspire women to share the gospel in their homes, workplaces, and within our local community
Collaborate with the Lead Pastor to develop creative and contextual outreach opportunities for women in Berkeley
Model a relational, prayerful, and Scripture-grounded evangelistic lifestyle
Lead the vision and direction for women’s discipleship and pastoral care
Foster a culture of genuine, gospel-shaped relationships among women at BLC
Oversee small groups, mentoring, and Bible study initiatives for women
Train and equip female leaders for ongoing discipleship and ministry
Partner with the wider ministry team and community organisations to ensure care and discipleship are holistic and intergenerational (women, youth, and children)
Help shape and oversee the culture, systems, and pathways that disciple people through serving
Recruit, train, and support volunteers across ministry teams
Encourage a servant-hearted culture that reflects Christ’s humility and love
Assist with leadership development initiatives within BLC
Requirements:
Genuine love for Jesus and a passion to see others come to know Him
Holds Reformed, Evangelical convictions aligned with Sydney Anglican theology
Has theological training (minimum Diploma of Theology or equivalent)
Brings experience in evangelism, discipleship, and pastoral care among women
Demonstrates humility, maturity, and emotional intelligence in relationships
Leads with a servant-hearted and team-oriented spirit — both gentle and strong
Is a strategic thinker, able to cast vision, raise leaders, and influence culture
Is adaptable, able to remain calm and constructive when plans change or challenges arise
Is organised and able to lead people and programs in a ministry context and maintain appropriate records
Is discrete and maintains confidentialities
Handles conflict in a Christ-like manner, with grace and wisdom
Has a sense of humour and joy in ministry
Experience working in a church or parachurch ministry context
Proven ability to lead teams and develop others
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work cross-culturally and with people from diverse backgrounds (essential for the Berkeley context)
Confidence in handling Scripture and teaching in both small and large group settings
Current Safe Ministry and Working with Children clearances as required by the Diocese
Meets the requirements for Authorisation or Ordination within the Diocese
