This 3-year apprenticeship scheme will enable the selected candidates to develop into technicians working on wind turbines. The first two years will be classroom-based at the IPS International training facility in Rochester. The 3rd year will consist of on-site training at Galloper Offshore Wind Farm operated at Harwich. Completion of the apprenticeship will result in an NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering (Mechatronics Maintenance Technician).
Job Responsibility:
Carry out all aspects of wind turbine maintenance, including scheduled, unscheduled, proactive, and troubleshooting maintenance
Electro/Mechanical problem solving of wind turbines working in small teams at height in remote locations
Working with advanced mechanical, hydraulic and electrical equipment in a safe manner
Planning in advance the tools, spares and materials required for each job
Fault finding and diagnosis of wind turbine main component condition
Ongoing personal development and training to become a multi skilled technician covering all aspects of inspection, maintenance and repair
Requirements:
GCSE in: 5 GCSE's including English, Maths and Science (grade 4/C and above)
