Job Description:

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. The Development Test Team designs and executes unique tests for components and subsystems on an accelerated schedule. We are looking for a Wind Tunnel Test Technician to join our rapidly growing team in Costa Mesa, CA. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and managing the inner workings of the Test Wind Tunnel! This will require the ability to manage large capital equipment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Support the execution of wind tunnel testing programs, installation of test assets and data acquisition systems
  • Maintain and ensure the calibration and readiness of the wind tunnel and associated instrumentation
  • Maintain lab spaces to a high level of organization and professionalism
  • Promote lab safety training and processes, fostering an environment and culture to promote safety as the number one priority
  • Travel to test sites and remote labs as needed

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in an engineering technician capacity or similar
  • Hands-on experience operating different wind tunnels (e.g. open-circuit, closed-circuit, subsonic, blowdown)
  • Hands-on experience with common aerodynamic sensors such as pitot tubes, PIV systems, and force balances
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding, flexible team environment
  • Eligible to obtain / maintain a U.S. Security Clearance

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with NI Data acquisition system setup and collection, as well as running LabVIEW and Flexlogger software
  • Demonstrated sense of drive and ability to work in cross-functional teams effectively

  • Perform digging, trenching, and painting duties while working independently
  • Observes safe work performance standards and operations in completion of daily tasks and provide prompt reporting in cases of accidents, injuries, and illnesses
  • Attends safety briefings when assigned by Foreman, observes safety compliance, maintains qualifications (GCOR) and coordinates with other departments
  • Monitors and ensures that all necessary tools and materials for completion of work is provided
  • Participates in the planning and directing of testing and maintenance of signal equipment such as relays, batteries, switch machines, signal fixtures, cable, and drag equipment detectors
  • Conduct testing for switch machinery, batteries for plant grounds, relays and cable for specifications, track signals, circuits for route locking, crossing track, locking points and balanced air, air compressors and record findings in accordance with AMT 27
  • Inspects test signal apparatus and systems and records the findings including the results from above in accordance with AMT 27
  • Maintains and repairs the above in accordance with AMT 23 and the special instructions governing the construction of Signals and interlocking
  • Assists Signalman in performance of assigned duties and conducts his/her own equipment tests and records results
