Job Responsibility

  • Design and define wind farm control functionalities in line with customer requirements and international grid codes
  • Develop and maintain software solutions for the Nordex Acciona Wind Farm Controller
  • Validate control solutions both in laboratory environments and real wind farms (remote commissioning and testing)
  • Optimize control strategies and system performance across wind farm fleets
  • Lead complex technical developments, from concept to deployment
  • Develop and optimize communication interfaces between control systems and external platforms
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Control & Grid Code, and Laboratory Test teams
  • Provide 3rd-level technical support to ensure the performance and reliability of the global wind farm fleet

Requirements

  • University degree in Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong expertise in PLC programming (IEC 61131-3) and MATLAB/Simulink
  • Solid understanding of PLC architectures and industrial automation environments
  • Strong analytical and abstract thinking skills
  • In-depth knowledge of industrial communication protocols, such as: Profinet, Modbus TCP/RTU, IEC 60870-5-101/104, DNP3, OPC UA, Bluecom
  • Proven experience in control algorithms, automation networks, and system integration
  • Practical experience with renewable power plants and grid code compliance
  • Very good command of English (spoken and written)
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in a similar role
  • Experience with IEC 61400-25 (wind power communication standards)
  • Background in embedded control systems, code generation, and real-time applications
  • Exposure to hybrid energy plants (BESS, PV, Hydrogen)
  • Independent, reliable, and structured working style
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative team mindset
  • Comfortable working in international and multicultural environments
  • Willingness to travel occasionally

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of German or Spanish is a strong plus
  • Experience with IEC 61400-25 (wind power communication standards)
