Job Responsibility

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and perform required welding on all equipment at the mine
  • perform preventive maintenance and catastrophic failure repair

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in welding and repair of heavy diesel equipment
  • experience in hard surfacing and repair of ground engaging tools at a surface coal mine
  • ability to weld in all positions (horizontal, vertical and overhead)
  • ability to properly use a torch, air arc, stick weld, and wire weld
  • working knowledge of MIG and TIG units and different types of metals associated with mining equipment
  • ability to perform line bore repairs with no quality issues including ID cutting of blades, buckets, D11 frames, dump bodies, etc.
  • face cutting/grinding
  • track frame bores and swing bosses
  • basic math skills
  • valid driver's license
  • high school diploma or GED
  • ability to stand for prolonged periods
  • ability to be seated for up to 4 hours
  • ability to work from elevated positions, walk/climb stairs and ladders
  • ability to lift 10-50 lbs. frequently
  • ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions
  • ability to work in extreme conditions
  • ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other PPE
  • ability to work any assigned shift, overtime, weekends and holidays
  • must be self-motivated and work with minimal supervision
  • must communicate and coordinate with co-workers and supervisors
  • must follow Company, State and Federal regulations
  • must have high safety standards
  • must read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets and operate power tools and hand tools
