Job Description:

The Clark County Combined Health District seeks a Certifying Health Professional 1 (Dietetic Technician Registered (DT/DTR) or associate degree Registered Nurse (ADN/RN)) to work on our WIC team. Under the supervision of the Nutrition and Breastfeeding Supervisor assists with certification/recertification of the WIC participants; provides them with nutrition education either individually or in-group sessions.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assists with certification/recertification of WIC participants
  • prescribes appropriate food packages in a clinical setting
  • Provides nutrition counseling to WIC participants individually and/or in in-group sessions regarding normal nutritional needs including breastfeeding
  • establishes individual nutrition goals
  • completes necessary documentation in the medical record
  • makes referrals to resources, programs, and physicians as needed
  • Compiles statistics and data needed to complete monthly reports and other reports required by the Ohio WIC Program
  • When necessary, assists in obtaining medical data (heights, weights, and hematocrits) needed for certification/recertification
  • Helps develop nutrition education materials, newsletters, outreach information, etc.
  • Sets up and operates visual aids
  • does food demonstrations
  • distributes farm market vouchers, etc. as assigned
  • Provides breastfeeding education and support
  • Attends state and local WIC meetings as required
  • Reports upon directive in an emergency
  • Conduct other duties as assigned
