Job Description:

As the WHS Advisor, you will play a key part in supporting a safe and healthy working environment across the College. Working closely with leaders and staff, you will help maintain effective WHS systems, support risk management processes and contribute to initiatives that strengthen a positive safety culture.

Job Responsibility:

  • Supporting the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the College’s Work Health and Safety (WHS) Management System to ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements
  • Partnering with Department Heads and People Leaders to provide guidance on WHS obligations, including risk assessments, safe work procedures and the management of workplace hazards, including psychosocial risks
  • Monitoring and maintaining key WHS systems and registers, analysing incident and hazard data, and preparing reports for leadership
  • Coordinating safety inspections, audits and risk assessments across College campuses
  • Oversee management of injury incidents and claims, including workplace adjustments and rehabilitation planning in consultation with the relevant People & Culture team members

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience (minimum five years) in a Work Health and Safety role within a complex organisation
  • Strong understanding of WHS and WorkCover legislation and regulations in Victoria
  • Relevant WHS qualification (Certificate IV or equivalent experience required
  • tertiary qualification viewed favourably)
  • Experience working with WHS management systems and safety technologies
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, lead initiatives and support the implementation of safety improvements
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality
  • A current Working with Children Check and Police Check
  • Be open to ideas, striving for excellence and have a high level of integrity
