We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to join our wheelchair team in Leicester. As an HCPC-registered clinician, you will competently and confidently assess, prescribe, and fit wheelchairs, buggies and specialist seating to support independence across a range of clinical settings. You will work autonomously within your scope of practice to manage appropriate interventions, ensuring high-quality, patient-centred care. In addition to direct clinical responsibilities, you will actively contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives under guidance, as well as support the professional development, mentorship, and supervision of graduate and undergraduate colleagues. All activities will be undertaken in line with NHS values and Opcare’s commitment to innovation and excellence in patient care.
Job Responsibility:
Deliver autonomous, patient-centred care, independently managing routine and moderately complex cases
Adhere to clinical prescription guidelines to ensure safe, effective and appropriate patient care
Effectively plan and prioritise caseload to meet service delivery targets, managing time and multiple tasks efficiently in a dynamic clinical environment
Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to audits and quality improvement initiatives to support safe, effective and continuously evolving patient care
Engage in continuous professional development through self-directed study, literature review and participation in relevant training
Maintain mandatory training, adhere to policies and procedures and work collaboratively within the team
Requirements:
Highly developed interpersonal skills – including formal and informal communication
Proven record of working within an active, fast paced clinical environment
Experience of having collaborative role in an MDT environment
Working proactively and collaboratively in the team and wider healthcare system
Interest in service development and/or evidence of involvement
Able to prioritise, plan and organise efficiently and work with multiple conflicting priorities
BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy
HCPC registered
Full driving licence
Nice to have:
Experience undertaking postural assessments
Experience of working in a wheelchair service
Experience mentoring students or support staff
Practice educator training
