This employee welds components used to build Ditch Witch equipment. This employee may also run a Robotic Welding Machine. As a cross-functional team member of this division he or she may also assemble components and perform other duties as assigned.
Job Responsibility:
Read information from blueprints, technical manuals or other documents
Set up fixtures, mount parts in fixtures, and perform mechanical assembly
Use a hoist to lift and position large, heavier components and completed weldments
Set up, adjust, and operate MIG welding equipment to weld machine components
Remove components from fixtures, clean and check them for quality, and correct errors or deficiencies of weldments
Use a computer to check the location, inventory, routing of parts, and to record inventory transactions
May run a Robotic Welding Machine
May assemble components and perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Appropriate reading, clerical, and basic math skills
Appropriate mechanical skills, including experience using hand and air-powered tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, etc.)
For Welder II: Typically, 18 to 36 months of directly related experience required
Certificate from technical school preferred
Appropriate MIG welding experience in all phases of welding (short arc, spray transfer, hard surfacing and submerged arc)
Experience in cutting processes, oxyacetylene torch and plasma torch
Must pass the written Production Welder II test over symbols with a minimum score of 70%
Must pass the hands-on macrotech test to determine the quality of the weld
Demonstrates the ability to weld production jobs to print, while following standard work with little to no supervision
Knowledgeable of SAP and able to utilize the system, and assist others, based upon job needs
Willing to instruct and train others on best practices in production welding
For Welder I: Appropriate MIG welding experience OR have completed a formal welding training program (or the equivalent in training and experience)
Pass required entry-level plate test for production welding
Be able to handle items weighing over 60 pounds from floor to knuckle
Be able to handle pull or push items up to 50 pounds
Be able to handle items up to 35 pounds from knuckle to shoulder
Be able to handle items up to 25 pounds from shoulder to overhead
Job requires frequent walking, twisting, bending, squatting, kneeling, and climbing
