Job Description

A large, privately owned waste management company is looking for a Weighbridge Operator to join the team on the Farnham site. Reporting to the Site Manager, the Weighbridge Operator is responsible for correctly recording all incoming and outgoing vehicles on the weighbridge system and their overall compliance with site and safety regulations.

Job Responsibility

  • Monitor and record all incoming and outgoing vehicle movements via the weighbridge system
  • Ensure that all drivers are conversant and compliant with site and safety regulations at all times
  • Production of routine reports in relation to the Depot operations and material inputs and outputs
  • Ensure that general housekeeping standards are maintained to the highest level at all times
  • Report all accidents and incidents in accordance with company rules, undertaking specific investigations as appropriate

Requirements

  • Good working knowledge of the waste, aggregates and recycling industries
  • Good working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environment associated to the site permit(s)
  • Good working knowledge and experience of associated plant and machinery
  • Effective communication (verbal and written) and organisational skills
  • Commitment to delivering service excellence
  • Attention to detail

  • Produce accurate weighbridge tickets for all vehicles entering and leaving the site, ensuring all customer, vehicle and material details are correctly recorded
  • Maintain compliance by checking inbound documentation against environmental permit requirements and completing all outbound paperwork accurately and in line with legislation
  • Ensure all drivers and visitors follow site rules, including wearing appropriate PPE, signing in, and receiving relevant instructions
  • Monitor credit stop accounts, refusing loads unless authorised, and notify drivers of overweight vehicles
  • Keep the weighbridge operating correctly by ensuring it remains balanced and reporting any faults or cleanliness issues
  • Maintain a clean, organised weighbridge office and answer telephone calls professionally
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support safe, efficient site operations and uphold health and safety responsibilities, including reporting accidents, incidents and near‑misses
