The Nelson Trust is a charity dedicated to supporting people affected by addiction and trauma to build safer, more stable futures. Within our residential women’s service in Stroud, we offer trauma-informed care in a structured, supportive environment where recovery can begin and lives can be rebuilt.
Job Responsibility
Being a consistent and reassuring presence, helping clients feel safe and supported throughout the day
Encouraging engagement in weekend activities, groups and recovery-focused work
Supporting everyday needs, from wellbeing to practical tasks such as medication and appointments
Facilitating check-ins, house meetings and reflective work to maintain connection to recovery
Responding calmly to challenges, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all clients
Requirements
Ability to work a fixed weekend rota (8am–4:30pm), providing consistency when clients need it most
A full driving licence and willingness to transport clients when required
The ability to build trusting relationships while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries
Understanding of addiction, trauma or working with people experiencing adversity
A calm, steady approach, with the confidence to respond thoughtfully to challenges
Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn and develop
