This is a pivotal senior role underpinning our New Zealand web development capability. You’ll play a key part in shaping how we design, build, and deliver digital solutions, while working closely with our Australian web development leadership to ensure alignment across markets. Combining hands-on development with technical leadership, this role will suit someone who enjoys setting engineering direction, mentoring developers, and influencing best practice — while still getting their hands dirty building high-quality web solutions. As the NZ team grows, you’ll help establish a strong local engineering culture, ensure scalable and maintainable solutions, and act as a trusted technical voice across both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure web applications and integrations
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership through code reviews, solution design, and mentoring
  • Collaborate with AU and NZ teams to improve shared platforms, performance, and delivery
  • Support Agile delivery through clear estimation, prioritisation, and continuous improvement
  • Troubleshoot production issues and proactively identify technical risks
  • Communicate technical decisions, progress, and risks to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Web Developer, Technical Lead, or similar role
  • Strong communicator who can confidently bridge technical and non-technical discussions
  • Experience working with remote or cross-country teams
  • Comfortable balancing hands-on development with leadership and architectural responsibility
  • Passionate about engineering quality, scalable solutions, and continuous improvement
  • A collaborative leader who builds trust, supports colleagues, and contributes positively to team culture
  • Proven experience leading or mentoring development teams while staying hands-on
  • Skilled in defining or improving engineering standards, practices, and processes across teams or markets
  • Comfortable working within established frameworks while driving local technical improvements
  • Experienced in Agile delivery and adapting processes to team and business needs
  • Core stack: C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core, HTML5/CSS3/JS/TypeScript, SQL Server, Web Services/API, Git, Azure DevOps/GitHub
  • Enterprise experience: N-tier web apps, performance tuning, DevOps workflows, cloud platforms (Azure/AWS)
  • E-Commerce experience
  • Understanding of SEO, SEM, or CRO practices is a plus

Nice to have:

Future-ready / Nice to have: .NET 6+, React, Node.js, Next.js, serverless/microservices, REST/GraphQL, Docker, CI/CD, automated testing
