Weather Technician - SFRC Contract Job at Amentum (Vandenberg Space Force Base)

Job Description

Amentum is seeking a Weather Systems Technician for the Space Force Range Contract.

Operate, maintain, and repair Weather Tower instrumentation, Doppler Radar Wind Profilers, Lightning Detection systems, Rawinsonde/Radiosonde systems, Ocean Surveillance Radar RF and control systems, subsystems and components
Displays a thorough understanding of weather sensor systems and radar systems
Good record keeping and verbal communications skills
Works well independently and in a team environment
Other duties as assigned

Two or more years of applicable experience in electronics and electrical theory or applicable range experience desired
Associate degree in electronic technology, or two (2) year technical school, or equivalent military experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Computer operation and software skills to maximize productivity software and data systems
Ability to work independently while in a team environment satisfactorily complete daily tasks, solve technical problems and deal with variable situations where multiple standards may exist
Ability to use highly technical test equipment like oscilloscopes, analyzers, and meters
Ability to read and interpret information from technical manuals, schematics, procedures, and to communicate this information to co-workers
Ability to learn from experienced Weather Systems technicians
Ability to occasionally lift or move 50 pounds
Must be able to occasionally travel to remote sites to perform maintenance
Ability to climb Weather Towers up to 300 feet
The ability to work independently
The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship
Valid U.S. Driver’s License required
