Job Description:

Lead a team focused on credit delivery within the Specialty Finance Group's lending platform, which includes lending profiles with significant Private Capital and Hedge Fund investment portfolios. This role will lead a team of underwriters that has responsibility for vetting, structuring, and managing credits and risk with concentration in the Alternatives and family office sectors. This leader will also underwrite and recommend credit facilities across the spectrum of SFG’s lending area such as: semi-liquid securities (restricted/concentrated stock positions, OPUs, etc.), private stock, and other complex situations and non-traditional asset classes.

Job Responsibility:

  • Maintain subject matter expertise in the Alternative Investment industry and other lending areas
  • Provides recommendations and guidance to clients, relationship managers, Custom Credit Bankers and senior credit approvers during all aspects of the credit structuring, underwriting, approval, delivery and ongoing risk management processes
  • Manage a team of underwriters to deliver high quality custom credit solutions in this specialized area
  • Leads the efficient, accurate and timely delivery of credit by managing and balancing production of day-to-day origination, underwriting and portfolio management through the supervision of others
  • Exercise approval authority on new and existing credit requests as well as other operational items including exceptions and overrides
  • drives a consistent and balanced credit culture by managing asset quality standards with growth objectives
  • Oversee the team’s portfolio management functions and processes to ensure loan performance, compliance with financial reporting and covenant requirements, maintenance of risk rating accuracy and escalation of problem credits
  • Ensure appropriate legal documentation of credit transactions in compliance with Company standards and approved credit terms
  • Ensure compliance with government regulatory requirements as well as company credit policies and procedures

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of Wealth Underwriting experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 3+ years of management or leadership experience

Nice to have:

  • Deep understanding of Private Capital, Hedge Fund structures, and other illiquid or non‑traditional asset classes
  • Proven success leading and developing high‑performing underwriting or credit teams
  • Experience structuring bespoke lending solutions for Ultra-high Net Worth clients
  • Strong analytical and decision‑making skills with the ability to balance risk and growth objectives
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder partnership skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels
