Job Description:

Are you a seasoned engineer with a passion for delivering impactful water or wastewater solutions? We’re looking for an Associate Water or Wastewater Engineer to join our team – someone who brings a strong mix of process or mechanical engineering expertise, coupled with a proven ability to work directly with clients in New Zealand. In this role, you’ll take the lead in designing and delivering complex water or wastewater projects, ensuring high-quality outcomes for our clients. You’ll be a key part of our multidisciplinary team, helping to shape solutions that are innovative, sustainable, and future-focused.

Job Responsibility:

  • Leverage your existing client base and network to identify new business opportunities and foster business development within the water or wastewater sector
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and new technologies, applying your knowledge to continually improve service offerings
  • Lead and manage wastewater projects from inception through to completion, including feasibility studies, design, implementation, and commissioning
  • Provide both engineering solutions tailored to client needs
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, building strong, long-term relationships and delivering exceptional customer service
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure all project aspects are aligned with client objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry standards
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources to ensure successful delivery
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and team members

Requirements:

  • 12-15 years’ of experience
  • Highly skilled in water process design, or wastewater process modelling using Biowin and/or SUMO
  • Professional accreditation is preferrable
  • Demonstrated ability to win and deliver work
  • Proven track record of managing all process components of water or wastewater treatment from start to finish
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively
  • A self-driven, charismatic, and personable individual who thrives in a client-focused environment
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Established client base and network within the water or wastewater industry
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

Nice to have:

  • Advanced degree in Chemical and Process Engineering, Wastewater Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field
  • Experience in business development and expanding client portfolios
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and standards
  • Project management certification highly desirable
