Job Responsibility:

Under the supervision of the Water and Wastewater Facilities Supervisor the Water & Wastewater Operator is responsible for the operation of the water or wastewater plant, as the case may be, in order to ensure that residents have safe and clean water, or properly treated wastewater, in accordance with federal, provincial and municipal legislation, policies and standards

Requirements:

  • Minimum post-secondary diploma (ex. Environmental Technician) or equivalent acceptable experience
  • Must possess and post a minimum: Class I Water Treatment Certificate, Class I Water Distribution Certificate, Class I Wastewater Treatment Certificate
  • Demonstrated ability to provide guidance and leadership
  • Must have worked a minimum of one (1) year as a Certified Water or Wastewater Treatment Operator
  • Excellent mechanical skills
  • Must have sufficient clerical ability to complete necessary reports
  • Have working knowledge of Safety Regulations and Procedures
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Computer skills including ability to operate SCADA and Hansen systems
  • Must possess a valid Ontario Class G driver's license
