Job Description

Within a 50 mile radius of Milton Keynes. So, what does this role actually involve? You will be working as both a technical water treatment engineer and an account manager, looking after customer systems across steam, cooling, and closed-loop applications. It is hands on, site based work combined with real responsibility for customer relationships. You are not just turning up to take samples. You are the person customers rely on to keep their systems performing properly, spotting issues early, and making sure everything stays compliant and under control. You will be part of a specialist water treatment team, working independently across your territory but supported by technical and operational colleagues when needed. This is a field based role, so you will be trusted to manage your own time, plan your visits effectively, and make sure customers receive a consistent, high-quality service.

Job Responsibility

  • Working as both a technical water treatment engineer and an account manager
  • Looking after customer systems across steam, cooling, and closed-loop applications
  • Hands on, site based work combined with real responsibility for customer relationships
  • Managing and developing long-term customer relationships
  • Carrying out routine service visits across multiple client sites
  • Monitoring and maintaining water treatment programmes for steam, cooling, and closed-loop systems
  • Taking water samples, carrying out testing and interpreting results
  • Providing clear technical recommendations and corrective actions
  • Producing accurate service reports and maintaining detailed records
  • Ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements
  • Planning and managing your own schedule and workload
  • Identifying opportunities to improve system performance and support business growth
  • Communicating regularly with customers and internal teams

Requirements

  • At least 2 years’ experience in water treatment (steam and cooling systems essential)
  • Experience managing customer accounts or client relationships
  • Strong understanding of water treatment systems and site-based servicing
  • Experience with closed-loop systems (desirable)
  • Confidence carrying out sampling, testing, and interpreting results
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate reporting skills
  • Good communication skills and customer-facing experience
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
  • Strong IT skills, particularly Excel and Word
