The town of Groton is seeking qualified applicants for Water Superintendent. This position reports to the Town Manager and works under the policy direction of an Elected Board of Water Commissioners. It involves the administrative and supervisory work in budgeting, planning, directing and managing the operations of the Water Department’s municipal drinking facilities in accordance with all federal and state Drinking Water Regulations including but not limited to the water storage tanks, pumping stations, drinking water treatment facilities, water mains, fire hydrants, watersheds and drinking water resource areas; all other related work as may be required. Performs highly responsible functions requiring the exercise of independent judgment in planning and inspecting the construction of drinking water supply systems and in determining the scope and scheduling of maintenance projects. Supervises all water department employees and functions. Oversees contractors for all construction projects and activities for public projects to ensure compliance with plans and specifications. Frequently attends night and weekend meetings as may be required.

Requirements:
Massachusetts Drinking Water Licenses – Distribution Grade II and Treatment License Grade I
minimum of five to seven years of supervisory experience in the water operations field
Bachelor’s Degree would be preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
