Job Description:

The positions involve public contact and routine manual work carried out in support of the District’s water conservation program. Work is performed under general supervision with considerable independent judgement and action exercised within established guidelines.

Job Responsibility:

  • Patrol the District by vehicle or on foot to monitor for indications of illegal watering
  • Investigate complaints
  • Educate residents with regard to watering restrictions
  • Issue warnings
  • Complete inspections
  • Coordinate with a partner Water Conservation Officer
  • Liaise with municipal staff

Requirements:

  • Completion of Grade 12 and some related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • A valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Exceptional customer service and dispute resolution skills
  • Ability to deal with members of the public effectively while providing information and education on watering use and restrictions
  • Ability to accurately complete work related documentation
  • Ability to monitor and identify situations of non-compliance with watering restrictions and ability to follow-up on repeat violations
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications, Word and Excel
  • Ability to prepare internal records and detailed reports and perform research
