Job Description

Supervises the workforce to operate and maintain wastewater treatment plant and facilities in compliance with applicable company policies/procedures, regulations, and law. This position entails professionalism and independent judgment, and the overall ability to work effectively at all levels.

Job Responsibility

  • Coordinate and schedule a variety of maintenance, installation and repair projects for the wastewater system
  • Assign work crews to specific jobs based on job requirements and work force ability
  • Supervise, inspect and perform maintenance, repair and installation work
  • Receive work orders and determine materials and manpower required
  • Manage PM and CM program
  • Assign work orders for issues discovered upon physical inspection or complaints
  • Periodically inspect work in progress by private contractors
  • Order material and equipment for installation and repair
  • Partner with Engineering Department in prioritization of Capital Projects
  • Partner with EHSS to conduct periodic safety and training programs
  • Safety monitoring of crews at work site
  • Prepare reports as required by VEOLIA and all regulatory agencies
  • Prepare and implement operational scheduling and standard operating procedures
  • Monitor KPIs
  • Respond to emergency calls and work extended hours as needed
  • Demonstrate safe work practices
  • Participate on cross-functional teams
  • Perform other projects/tasks/duties as assigned

Requirements

  • AS/BS degree in related field or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of five years of experience in the construction, operations, maintenance and repair of wastewater systems
  • Minimum of two years of supervision experience is preferred
  • Valid Driver's License

  • Directs plant wastewater, bio solids and energy utilization and power generation processes on a rotating shift to ensure safe, cost effective and efficient operations to meet VW contract and all regulatory requirements
  • Maintains a sufficient staff of bargaining unit operating personnel on shift
  • and reports attendance on a day-today basis
  • Provides first line supervision to the shift personnel subordinates for equipment usage and processes
  • Monitors the Drying and Dewatering Facility for proper operation and product primarily during nights and weekends
  • Trains, coaches, lead the shift workers in safety training, on-the-job practices and execution of Standard Operating Procedures and process directives. Inspects facilities for cleanliness, housekeeping, and unsafe conditions and conducts investigation of safety incidents or accidents. Reports unsafe conditions and files reports on injuries
  • Administers management policies and directives, trains and evaluates subordinate staff including administering discipline as required
