Job Responsibility

  • Operate waste treatment equipment in the Primary and Secondary systems
  • Take control tests on operation parameters while operating secondary system and adjust operation based on results
  • Run pH, suspended solids, and settleometer tests on aeration basin water and sample for micro biological activity
  • Take water, soil, sewage, and solids samples and determine moisture content on sludge and slurry samples
  • Take proper precautions and use proper protective equipment when working around hazardous chemicals and other recognized workplace hazards
  • Load and unload chemicals and supplies and complete receiving of chemicals and supplies
  • Keep accurate logs and records of daily activities
  • Troubleshoot system problems, diagnosis difficulties and communicate with Maintenance/Engineering departments to make necessary repairs
  • Perform all job duties in a safe and efficient manner
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 1+ years in production, manufacturing, agriculture, industrial, military, or related environment
  • Background or training in chemistry, biology, or water systems
  • Forklift experience
  • Will be required to obtain a Waste Treatment Operator Level 2 license through the State of Nebraska within 6 months of employment

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records throughout the process for each regulatory agency governing each stage of the process
  • Ensure that all equipment and instrumentation used in the treatment, usage, and disposal process meet regulatory and site specifications
  • Ability to work independently, efficiently and make necessary decisions in regards to treatment requirements and quality standards
  • Maintain detailed electronic log, documented rounds, electronic spreadsheets, and produce daily reports each shift
  • Make routine rounds throughout shift in all treatment areas
  • Performs daily RCRA and Safety Inspections as required
  • Monitor all indicators, trends, and alarms on the Programmable Logic Controller(PLC) and local system setups throughout shift and make adjustments accordingly. Respond to notifications in a timely and efficient manner
  • Report any exceedances or permit violations to supervision, management, and EH&S immediately and document the occurrence on the designated forms and logs
  • Order daily consumable products from vendors for items such as: Acid, chlorine, chemical additives, potable water loads, and lab testing equipment and chemicals
