Job Description:

Job Role: Waste & Recycling Operative. Location: Brora. Start: ASAP. Contract Length: Until October 2026. Pay Rate: £13.64 per hour. Hours: Monday to Friday 6.30am – 2.00pm. Overtime may be required.

Job Responsibility:

  • Operate safely while loading materials behind refuse and recycling vehicles
  • Assist with street scene and environmental maintenance
  • Work at Household Recycling Centres, Transfer Stations, or landfill sites
  • Collect bulky waste items and remove fly-tipped materials
  • Deliver and collect recycling and refuse containers
  • Complete basic record-keeping and administrative tasks as required
  • Safely remove and dispose of animal carcasses
  • Carry out any additional duties as directed by the Supervisor or Foreperson

Requirements:

  • Good awareness of health and safety practices in the workplace
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills when dealing with colleagues and the public
  • Good level of physical fitness
  • Full, valid UK driving licence (desirable but not essential)
  • Capable of completing basic forms and handling simple paperwork as required

  • Complete thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections on all heavy equipment
  • promptly document and report deficiencies to the Supervisor or designate
  • Inspect and clear equipment of debris, mud, and scrap materials that may accumulate in tracks, wheels, or attachments
  • Ensure yard organization, housekeeping, and cleanliness of both worksite and equipment are maintained at all times
  • Ensure Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is worn and maintained as required
  • Comply with all Acden Environment and client company safety procedures and policies
  • Meet operational and service standards as directed by the Supervisor or designate
