Are you a natural leader who thrives in a fast paced warehouse environment? We’re looking for a Warehouse Team Manager to take charge of day to day operations for a large team within our National Distribution Centre ensuring that operations are managed safely, efficiently and accurately. In this pivotal role, you’ll lead, coach and inspire a team of around 30 colleagues, as well as deputising for the Operations Manager when required to manage a team up to 120 colleagues. You’ll be at the heart of operations, driving performance, whilst fostering a culture of engagement, teamwork and continuous improvement.
Job Responsibility:
Guiding and coaching the Team Leaders to improve communications and people management skills within their teams
Managing colleagues ensuring all employee relations matters are dealt with in a timely manner, following company polices and procedures, escalating matters to the Operations Manager when appropriate
Ensuring colleagues receive appropriate communication and training, and hold performance reviews including feedback to maximise performance and drive engagement
Managing and collating the weekly and daily resource plans to ensure that both people and machinery are fully utilised to maximise performance and meet or beat budgetary and key performance measures
Taking the lead on day to day site safety, health and environmental issues liaising with the SHE Team to ensure that the site maintains a 5-star audit, escalating any major issues to the Operations Manager
Leading continuous improvement projects and investigations as and when required to find root causes and implement long term solutions
Requirements:
Significant experience and knowledge of managing a large and diverse workforce
Strong knowledge and understanding of people management processes such as sickness absence, performance management, disciplinary and grievances
Ability to create excel reports and analyse data, make and implement recommendations for improvements
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
being able to adapt communication styles to accommodate and engage colleagues at all levels
In depth knowledge of warehouse systems and processes
Working knowledge of site health and safety
An IOSH qualification is a requirement, however training will be given to achieve the qualification within 12 months of securing the role
Nice to have:
Experience of Continuous Improvement methodology and projects would be an advantage
