This is an independent, one-person role heavily focused on outdoor yard management and physical material handling rather than an indoor warehouse environment. A primary focus of this role is daily communication with Construction Managers to ensure all materials are available, staged, and ready for crews to prevent project delays.
Job Responsibility:
Overseeing operations for the yard and material storage areas
Develops and improves yard processes
Tracks in-bound and out-bound inventory
Orders new supplies
Daily communication with Construction Managers to ensure all materials are available, staged, and ready for crews to prevent project delays
Work directly with Construction Managers on job planning to ensure inventory is available and ready for crews
Work with Procurement and Accounting to accurately track inventory when ordered and when consumed
Notify Construction Managers immediately of any delays on materials that may impact their job timelines
Load and unload equipment, materials, and supplies needed for daily work, using a forklift when required
Perform heavy lifting and manual handling of construction materials as a core daily function
Operate independently to manage the yard without direct daily supervision
Ensure adherence to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety regulations
Track and receive materials
Review sales orders and invoices
Track inventory on all material and tools in the yard (manually and in the computer)
Keep the yard clean and organized
clean up any oil spills or slipping hazards immediately
Ensure building and yard equipment and facilities are maintained
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Associate’s degree in supply chain management preferred
Experience in construction yard operations or field logistics is highly preferred
Forklift certification
OSHA 30
Ability to work independently as this is a one-person job
Ability to operate a forklift safely in an outdoor environment
Ability to do detailed and accurate work, especially with numbers and inventory counts
Ability to use computer equipment and software: (Fish Bowl, Word, Excel, etc.)
Must possess excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
Ability to effectively read and interpret emails, reports, receipts, invoices, and purchase orders
Ability to effectively communicate with Construction Managers, vendors, and supervisors
Must be a self-starter and internally motivated to achieve objectives without oversight
Daily attendance and punctuality are required
Must be able and willing to work outdoors, subject to inclement weather conditions
Routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting in awkward positions
Must be able to work around heavy equipment and machinery
Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time
Must be able to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses, hardhat, and applicable safety gear
