Warehouse Generalists at the full-performance level work independently under general supervision and will perform work in one or more work units. They are expected to develop proficiency in the work that they perform and take the Sponsor-specific training indicated below to ensure that they can safely and effectively operate the necessary equipment.
Job Responsibility:
Safely operate material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, etc.)
Perform tasks related to office moves and relocations (lifting, wrapping furniture)
Utilize manual and/or electric hand tools for mounting/disassembling items and crate assembly
Perform receiving and distribution functions (pick-up/delivery, validation, inspection, loading/unloading)
Perform packing and crating functions following policies for standard and non-standard items, including hazardous materials
Perform routine maintenance on equipment
Process documents and manifests for materials
Ensure safe and secure transport of documents/materials within Agency facilities
Distribute materials and collect authorized signatures
Organize daily delivery runs
Complete entries into and monitor a tracking database
Scan material into document control system
May serve as customer service representative to resolve problems
May coordinate daily activities of team officers
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
At least one (1) year performing warehouseman-type work in a warehouse environment
Maintain a clean driving record (negative points not to exceed -4, zero suspensions/revocations, zero serious violations)
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Forklift training within 60 days of start
Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
Working knowledge of internal policies and regulations for storage, packing, shipping, and handling
Working knowledge of HAZMAT requirements
Working knowledge of Windows-based computer applications
Ability to operate forklifts
Ability to use power tools and machinery
Working knowledge of carpentry techniques
Ability to operate an industrial shredder
Ability to read and understand manifests and other documents
Good interpersonal and customer service skills
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work well in a team environment
Ability to follow correct delivery procedures
Ability to effectively handle multiple priorities simultaneously
Ability to train other employees
Nice to have:
Familiarity with Working Capital Fund (WCF) business operating procedures
Extensive knowledge of Washington, D.C. and surrounding routes
