In this Warehouseperson role, you will be a vital part of the supply chain, ensuring that small independent lumber yards and retail building centers across Manitoba receive their orders accurately and on time. This position requires a unique blend of physical stamina, technical forklift skill, and extreme attention to detail. You will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, from picking individual cases of adhesive items to pulling and staging full lifts of lumber. The work environment is diverse, encompassing both indoor and outdoor warehouse settings, which requires handling long and large materials that demand precision and a steady hand. A significant portion of your day as a Warehouseperson will involve manual counting and pulling of products. Accuracy is paramount. Following the manual pick, you will be loading and moving materials using both propane and electric forklifts. Because you will be handling diverse inventory and reading detailed pick sheets, strong math and English capabilities are essential.
Job Responsibility:
Accurately pick and stage orders for the manufacturing & logistics department using paper pick sheets for a variety of building materials
Perform precise manual piece counts for specific orders, ensuring total accuracy before loading
Operate propane and electric forklifts to move, load, and unload heavy, oversized, or long materials such as lumber and siding
Navigate the warehouse safely and efficiently, including frequent reverse driving when transporting obstructed loads
Work effectively in both indoor and outdoor warehouse environments, adapting to Winnipeg’s changing weather conditions
Maintain a clean and organized workspace to minimize hazards and maximize productivity in the manufacturing & logistics area
Contribute to a positive team environment by assisting colleagues and meeting daily shipping deadlines
Conduct regular inventory checks and document any discrepancies for the warehouse management team
Requirements:
Strong mathematical aptitude for accurate piece counting and inventory verification
Excellent English literacy skills to correctly interpret pick sheets, labels, and safety documentation
Superior spatial awareness for maneuvering long materials (up to 16-20 feet) through warehouse aisles
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Warehouseperson or in a related industrial environment
Valid certification or significant documented experience operating propane and electric forklifts
Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular and repetitive basis
Outstanding attendance and punctuality are non-negotiable for this role
