As a Waking Night Support Worker, you’ll be responsible for safeguarding and supporting children overnight in one of our residential homes. You will ensure a safe, calm, and nurturing environment, attend to children’s emotional and physical needs, and complete essential tasks to prepare the home for the following day. This is a lone working role, ideal for someone with maturity, resilience, and the ability to work independently.
Job Responsibility:
Provide overnight supervision, care, and emotional support
Be alert to signs of distress or safeguarding concerns and report appropriately
Support personal care and hygiene routines where required
Keep accurate records and complete admin tasks during the shift
Clean and prepare the home for the following day
Communicate effectively with day staff and management handovers
Remain vigilant and responsive to any incidents or needs through the night
Requirements:
Experience working with children or vulnerable people is preferred
Confidence working independently through the night
Calm, reliable, and highly observant
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it)
Must have the right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
Nice to have:
A full UK driving licence is desirable (not essential due to staff transport)
