Experience working in residential childcare, a children’s home or a similar care setting is helpful, but not essential
Confidence working independently overnight (lone working)
Calm, reliable and highly observant, with a caring approach
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices, or willingness to learn
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it)
Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)

Job Responsibility

Provide overnight supervision, care and emotional support to children and young people
Respond to needs during the night, including when a young person is unwell, upset or unable to sleep
Remain alert to safeguarding concerns and follow reporting procedures
Support personal care and hygiene routines where required
Keep accurate records and complete admin tasks during quieter periods
Carry out household tasks such as cleaning, laundry and preparing the home for the next day
Communicate clearly during handovers with day staff and management
Remain vigilant and responsive to incidents or needs throughout the night
