Job Responsibility

Helping to create a positive environment for each young person with particular reference to his/ her safety, health and education
Helping to carry the homes ethos and values through to the young people and represent Blue Mountain Homes as a professional

Requirements

Ideally have previous Residential Childcare experience
Experience with Learning disabilities or mental health support for adults & children is desirable
Work on a Night shift/Rota basis - Waking Night shifts (152 hours per month)
An enhanced DBS certificate will be required upon appointment

Job Responsibility

To remain awake and vigilant for the duration of your shift ensuring young people are safeguarded throughout the night
To undertake such domestic duties including cooking and cleaning that have been identified on the daily handover and passed to you by the Team Leader at the beginning of your shift
To maintain a log of events throughout the course of your shift and prepare handover ready for staff in the morning
To deliver personal care when guided by the young person’s care plan
To be responsible for the security of the building for the duration of your shift
To participate in training as directed by your line manager and if applicable complete diploma in line with Children’s Home Regulations 2015

Job Responsibility

Provide overnight supervision, care and emotional support to children and young people
Respond to needs during the night, including when a young person is unwell, upset or unable to sleep
Remain alert to safeguarding concerns and follow reporting procedures
Support personal care and hygiene routines where required
Keep accurate records and complete admin tasks during quieter periods
Carry out household tasks such as cleaning, laundry and preparing the home for the next day
Communicate clearly during handovers with day staff and management
Remain vigilant and responsive to incidents or needs throughout the night
