Job Description

Consultant position at the U.S. office of Volkswagen Group Consulting (VWC) – the in‑house strategy consultancy of the Volkswagen Group. VWC delivers diverse strategy projects across all VW Group brands and entities in the NAR region and offers a steep learning curve in a motivated team.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage own workstream in Top Management strategy projects and deliver data-driven insights, strategic recommendations, and implementation support to clients
  • Interact with senior client stakeholders, senior leadership and contribute to VWC’s internal strategy (e.g. thought leadership, project quality, internal initiatives)
  • Manage own workstream in Top Management strategy consulting projects across all relevant VW Group brands and entities in NAR region
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their strategic priorities and business context
  • Build trusted relationships with client teams and stakeholders and senior leadership
  • Structure complex business problems and develop hypotheses
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses using advanced tools and methodologies
  • Synthesize findings into actionable insights and recommendations
  • Present findings to clients
  • Contribute to the design and execution of consulting projects from start to finish
  • Manage first workstreams independently and ensure timely delivery of high-quality outputs
  • Mentor junior team members (e.g., Analysts, Interns) and provide quality control
  • Work in diverse, cross-functional teams with analysts, consultants, project managers, and partners
  • Contribute to a collaborative team culture
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging business models
  • Contribute to internal thought leadership and innovation initiatives
  • Support the Consulting’s leadership team in internal initiatives (e.g., marketing & recruiting, office development)

Requirements

  • 2-4 years (5 – 7 years) of experience in top tier Management Consulting, Automotive, other relevant industries (e.g., mobility services, tech) or post-MBA from top tier university
  • Network and experience in VW Group is a strong plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in business and/or engineering
  • MBA is a strong plus
  • Basic consulting skills
  • Fluent in English
  • First track record as Business Analyst/Consultant in consulting, corporate strategy, or related fields
  • Proven consulting toolkit (e.g., strong analytical and problem-solving skills) and ability to work in cross-functional, fast-paced, and client-facing environments
  • High proficiency in advanced business tools and methodologies (e.g., MS office)
  • First experience across automotive and mobility value chain
  • Strong (ideally bilingual
  • English and German) communication skills in writing (presentations, memos, emails) and speaking (top-down communication, argumentation, etc.)

Serve as a subject matter expert for one type of equipment and oversee everyday tasks and troubleshooting within their area of expertise. Have a hands-on understanding of how equipment works within disciplines they have been trained and how to troubleshoot equipment, systems, subsystems, and components independently within their trained discipline(s).
